The "Four Fictional Characters" tag

The "Four Fictional Characters" tag

(From Olivia at "Meanwhile in Rivendell")

Rules:
1. Link back to the person who tagged you
2. List four fictional characters (use pictures if you want! They can be from movies or books) and, if you like, describe what they're like and why you believe they relate to you
3. Tag a few other blog people! Three, or four, or even twenty. :) Share the fun! Be sure to let them know you've tagged them!

Okay, so here we go:

 Number 1. Jo March

I've always been told that I'm a lot like Jo. For one, people (mainly my brothers) have commented on how 'tomboyish' I can be at times, and I find it easy to get along with (most) of my brothers' friends. I'm the second oldest as well, in my family, along with being a writer who wants to do something that people won't forget after I'm dead. There are just several personality similarities that are hard to describe but are definitely present.

Also, I have a LOT of hair! If you've seen this version of "Little Women," that scene where Mrs. March is braiding Jo's hair is basically me. I actually did have it cut short once, but not to help anybody in a war. Just to get it cut. I also hate socializing much, and would much rather hide in a side room with one other like-minded person than mingle with lots of people.

Number 2. Peregrin Took

I couldn't pick just one picture! :) So, yes, I feel that I can relate to Pippin. I know exactly that feeling after he drops the skeleton/bucket/other stuff down the well.  When you drop a milk carton in the checkout aisle of the grocery store and it explodes--there is a brief moment of silence as if everyone is thinking, "what just happened?" and then some laugh, some groan and roll their eyes, and you just stand there in shock feeling like the most foolish person to ever live, still not totally sure how that had happened.

Both Pippin and I tend to blurt things out before we think about it or really even realize what we're saying, which leads to saying really, really dumb things at the worst possible times. We also both love food. Food is the best! I haven't ever stolen any vegetables from Farmer Maggot, but I do scour the backyard for black raspberries in the summer and grow some vegetables in my grandpa's garden. I always eat far too much dessert, which always reminds me of the "Lembas" sketch in LOTR! I don't know if this is really a "Pippin" thing to do, but I can be rather slow to get jokes or puns. Also, SOME PEOPLE think I talk like him! I DON'T! Not really. I am not Scottish (well, maybe a very small bit of Scotch-Irish blood on my father's side), and so it makes no sense that I would have a Scottish accent.

Number 3. Henrietta Willis (from the book series "100 Cupboards")
As of yet there is no movie, but I'm hoping there will be soon!

Probably most of you have no idea who Henrietta Willis is. That's okay, it's what I'm here for! She is the cousin of the main character in 100 Cupboards, who helps him--well, I'll let you read the book to figure that out. I feel like Henrietta and I are kindred spirits. We both have two sisters (though in different orders of age) and again, lots of curly brown hair. And when we find a secret door, we immediately want to explore it. Hey, let's open it up and see what's inside! Probably something magic or at least really old or cool!

Henrietta and I both care about other people, but have an aversion to showing much of that love for our family/friends in public. When something bad happens to others, it hurts us more than we would like to let on about, and we both hate crying. Crying is the stupidest thing ever. We both enjoy adventure, or at least the idea of it. We like to be strong and able to take care of ourselves and others but not be feminists.

Number 4. Emmet Brickowski

Emmet (from "The Lego Movie") is amazing! I think he and I share a lot of characteristics. For one, "I never have any ideas." Also, "Just tell me exactly what to do and how to do it." Pretty much the story of my life. We are both reluctant to step up into a leadership position unless absolutely necessary, and can be very silly and ignorant at times. We are both creatures of habit, with a routine that must be followed every day. (Usually.) And we are both rather silly, somewhat carefree people. I just feel that whenever I watch that movie I can relate most to Emmet,  not Batman or anyone else more popular (arguably). And plus, his workout routine is pretty much all I can do. "One!...Two!...Three!..." :D

Thank you for the lovely tag Olivia! That was such fun! Now to be boldly extroverted and tag  other people! ;)

  1. Oh, wow. This is awesome! XD
Thanks for tagging me!!!!!! I'll try to do this sometime next week.

And YESSSSSS, Pippin and Emmet for the win! I can also relate to them a lot! Especially Pippin, because we've both been blessed (or rather cursed), with bluntness! XD

    1. Oh, and also, could you add a follower gadget? It would be easier to keep up with your blog then! :)

  2. Thanks Gray! And thanks for reminding me to add that gadget...oops! I'm glad you liked it!

Agreed, bluntness is both a curse and a blessing. Especially when trying to socialize (I say "trying" for a reason) with people who don't 'get' bluntness.

  6. ANNA! This was such a fun post. I enjoyed it immensely!! :D

You really do sound like you have a lot in common with Jo March. :)

And PIPPIN!! I'm not even sure why, but I had a feeling Pippin was going to appear in this post! Heehee. ;) Good old Pippin. He's the best! (Well, you know. One of the best. I can't really decide between him and the other hobbits. I just like all of them!! ;))

But oh! That story about dropping the milk carton in the grocery store aisle!! Did you really do that? Poor Anna! :( I can really sympathize with you on that one. I mean, I once tipped over the entire grocery cart when I was around eight or nine because I was hanging onto the side of it. *gulp* That was soooo embarrassing!! :P

You're right. I don't know who Henrietta Willis is. Thanks for the introduction. She sounds like a cool person. :) "We like to be strong and able to take care of ourselves and others but not be feminists." Yeah, just skip the feminist part, right? Hahaha. ;P

Emmet sounds like a cool character too! I've never seen "The Lego Movie", but wow. I can totally relate to the "just tell me exactly what to do and how to do it". That is SO me. ;)

    1. Great! I'm glad.

Yes, I discovered another thing in common with Jo just a couple of days ago--we both tend to have clothes in a perpetual state of disarray and decay. Hm. That's the problem with not ever growing out of things any more; they wear out! :)

Ha! Pippin appears in pretty much everything! And I still can't decide if he or Frodo or Merry or Sam (or Bilbo...) is my favorite hobbit! It's too hard. I really did drop that milk carton. It wasn't fun.

I would recommend "100 Cupboards" to ANYBODY looking for a good fantasy book. N.D. Wilson is an incredible author--all the characters are so real, and he's funny, too! And "The Lego Movie" is just a fun, cute adventure with Legos. If you like Legos, then you'd probably like that movie. Emmet is kind of pitiful, but he's so relatable too! :)

  7. You did the post! :D Yay!

I agree, you are similar to Jo March! And yeeees. You're hair is just like hers. So pretty and wavy. (I'm still jealous of your hair. haha)

PIPPIN. I relate to him, too. Especially whenever he does something stupid. (Is that milk carton story true?)

I definitely need to read 100 Cupboards... (You hate crying? I don't LOVE it, but I feel as if it's a Very Necessary Thing in life. :P)

Awwwwww. Emmett is the best. :D

I really need to do this tag soon, too!

    1. I sure done did it! (Boy, that looks way weirder typed out than it sounded in my head...)

:) Aw, thanks! Actually, my mother pointed out the similarity between me and Jo when she was braiding my hair once upon a time. I didn't really agree at that time, but now...Also Jo and I both have a talent for not thinking before we talk--just thinking afterwards and hating ourselves for saying what we said!

YES, thank you! So I'm not crazy! The comments about this post have proved that I am not the only person who relates very much to Pippin! Hooray! (Yes, the milk carton story is true. It was terrible. Here I was, trying to be so helpful and load groceries into the cart, and then SPLOOSH! There goes the milk, like a milk-flavored bomb. Oh well.

You definitely need to read 100 Cupboards!!!!!! It's soooooooo good!!!! (I know what you mean about crying...yeah, it's Somewhat Necessary, but Very Embarrassing when you do it in front of other people or when you want to stop.)

"I'm dark and brooding too!" *gasp!* "Hey look guys, a rainbow!!" :D

Ooh, I look forward to reading that! :)

  8. Hello! Andrew dropping by.

You've dropped a milk carton in the store?! I've had similar stories with soft drinks at restaurants, but that tops it. :D Though there has probably been worse that I don't recall right now.
I know how that feels though.

I never knew that Emmet had a last name. I thought Mr. Business was just referencing some other movie! You can never stop learning, that's for sure.

I am actually working on a tag at my blog. Its private right now because I'm remodeling and renaming it.

You need to get your bros to start their own blogs, btw.

  9. Well, hello there Andrew!

Yep. I dropped it. In the checkout lane, during a busy time...sigh...I sure hope that cashier isn't working at that particular Meijer anymore and that nobody will ever recognize me as "that kid who exploded the milk carton."

Yeah, the first few times we saw "The Lego Movie" we thought "Brickowski" was an allusion to something else, but one of us was leafing through the hideous junior novelization of the movie at a store once and discovered that Emmet does, in fact, have a last name!

A secret blog-tag-thing-a-ma-jig project? Hmm...interesting...and yes, I do need to make them start blogs. But...they're all like, "Blogging is for girls," or "I have Facebook [ick] so I don't need a blog." :) Maybe I can convince them eventually...

    Thanks for dropping in!

    1. Wow. I have my clumsy moments too. A few in particular I can think of. It's kind of worse in Civil Air Patrol because you want to look all cool and all that and being clumsy makes you feel like a newbie. :D

Even really lame books can teach you things, I guess.

I hope to get my blog back on line today. I'll probably post the tag a few days after. If you want to, I could tag you for it. Basically you answer a set of questions and make up a set of your own and then have other bloggers answer them.

Facebook as a blog alternative? Do they understand what blogger is? You better convince them. They're missing out. And no, it's not a girly thing.

You should tell them they don't want to blog because apparently they're very boring and having nothing interesting to tell the world about their skills and talents and thoughts.

    2. I suppose we all have those...sadly. Ah well, if we didn't then we'd all probably be very stuck up and airheaded.

Hey, tags are always fun! I just took a look at your 'new and improved' blog--the title should convince my bros that blogging is indeed not boring and not girly. ;)

      Ah, good idea!

    3. Well, if we learn from them, it should be a good thing.

Yes! They need to look at it. They need to blog. It would be great if they did the tag. I had a lot of fun with it, that's for sure.

You have to prick their pride and get them to do it.
